Another week, another weekly roundup… But before we jump into the links, I just wanted to let you a heads up about something… In case you haven’t noticed, FiveCentNickel has been loading somewhat slowly recently. This is primarily due to an overloaded webhost, so I’ve decided to ditch my shared hosting account and move to a new host with a dedicated server. I’ve already been working on migrating some of my personal sites, and sometime over the weekend I hope to move both FiveCentNickel and Raising4Boys. So… Don’t worry if you see strange things afoot. All will be normal (and then some!) before you know it. And with that, lets get to the links…
FMF asks if the worst of the housing slump is over. To be honest, I haven’t really been paying attention. We went through a work-related move a year ago, and aren’t planning on buying or selling anytime soon.
MBH talks about inflated eBay shipping charges.
JLP wonders whether or not organic milk is worth the cost. On a related note, The Good Human asks if you’d buy milk in a biodegradable box.
Jim says that you don’t need an emergency fund. Also, who says size doesn’t matter? Jim wants to know who has the biggest 401(k).
Flexo talks about HSBC’s new online checking account. Looks like they’ve decided to roll out an answer to ING’s Electric Orange checking account.
4M thinks that David Bach’s math is misleading.
Ben talks about using credit cards to simplify your finances.
Henry talks about the importance of paying more than the minimum when trying to get out of debt.
Lazy Man has an interesting update on his Prosper performance.
SVB has a nice list of 12 cheap ways to stay healthy.
Jeremy says you don’t necessarily have to get your oil changed every 3, 000 miles, and I agree that you shouldn’t get your oil changed too often.
Sun shares some thoughts on Zecco.
My Retirement Blog has an introduction to self-directed IRAs.
Finally, Financial Zen says that high gas prices are all our fault. Guess what? There’s truth in them thar words…
