Turbo Tax Discount for Amex Customers (and Others?)

Turbo Tax Discount for Amex Customers

While perusing recent transactions in our Platinum Delta SkyMiles Card from American Express. account, I ran across an ad for a 35% discount on TurboTax Federal products when you pay with “any eligible American Express Card.”

There’s also a link from the ad itself (go ahead and click it if you wish) which appears to automatically apply the discount when you click through. I’m not sure what happens if you pay with something other than Amex after clicking that link, but it’s worth a shot.

The discounts are as follows:

  • Free Edition: Free for 1040EZ (as always)
  • Deluxe: $29.95 –> $14.95
  • Premier: $49.95 –> $32.45
  • Home & Business: $74.95 –> $48.70

This offer is good through October 15, 2011, which is the deadline for filing returns with a filing extension. Happy filing!

Just an FYI – I used the link (Thanks BTW!) and saved 17 dollars and change for the downloaded Deluxe version and when I went to pay, because I guess I have bought stuff from Intuit before, it used my stored VISA card not my AE card and it still went through which is OK by me (I have VISA and AE.) I hope I don’t get a charge back on my VISA? Mr Geo

Thanks. You can file & pay federal return first with AMEX discount, and then add & pay state return with Fidelity discount, so you get the best deal!

Hi, Please advice on my scenario below, what is the best software in cost effective way?

    1) 2 W-2’s from two employers in two different states
    2) 2 States
    3) 1 City
    4) Itemization required – relocation, child care expenses and stocks etc.

And Others – I received a similar offer Capital One: 25% off the desktop software.

I still find H&R Block At Home (TaxCut) to be the better deal after retailers like Best Buy kick in their part. I purchased the Premium version of H&R Block at Best Buy last week – $10.00 off + $15.00 Best Buy gift card. Not bad… Especially when you factor in that H&R Block’s package is usually $10 – $15 dollars cheaper than Turbo Tax to begin with.

Hi, I work for Intuit (the makers of TurboTax). In response to Raj’s comment…

“This is for online filing only, not applicable if you want to use desktop version.”

Actually, American Express card members can get a 25% discount on the desktop versions of the software from this site. Just click on the download tab.

Also note that the discount only applies to filing federal taxes, not state taxes. You can get a 25% discount on both fed & state through sites like Fidelity (so I’ve read; I’m having trouble finding the link right now).
