Sam’s Club Checks Arrived

Exactly one week after ordering checks through Sam’s Club, they arrived in our mailbox exactly as promised. I just double-checked the information on the checks and it’s all good. Needless to say, I’m pretty happy with this transaction, and I would recommend Sam’s Club to anyone looking for checks. The same presumably goes for Wal-Mart (they seem to use the same printer) although their prices are a bit higher. Also note that Gary of the Money & Investing Dogberry Patch left a comment regarding Costco and the fact that they charge just $20.30 for four boxes of duplicate checks with free shipping. That beats Sam’s Club by a bit under three bucks, so it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re a Costco member.

  1. Once you have multiple kids in elementary school, you’ll understand how it’s possible to go through checks quickly. I use online billpay whenever possible, but we have to send checks with our kids to buy school lunches, pay for field trips, pay for Cub Scout stuff, etc., etc., etc.

I haven’t used a full pad of checks in over six months. Most banks now have free on-line bill paying services.

Saves on stamps too. Mail gets to target faster than I can get a check out, except for local mail. Pre-program recurring payments. This is an awsome service, if your bank has it.

  3. Actually, Sam’s and Wal-Mart are online check printers (see my previous post). Not sure about Costco, though. The problem with online check printers is that I’ve never heard of most of them, and I’m therefore not willing to hand over banking information. But compared to an outfit such as Current (they do online printing) this is a good bit cheaper. And way cheaper than at our bank.

Thanks for the tip about Costco – we’re members there (but not of Sam’s Club) and you’re right, the prices are awesome. We’ll definitely be getting our next order from them.
