3rd Quarter Taxes Due; Hurricane Victims Get Tax Extension

In case you haven’t been keeping an eye on the calendar, quarterly estimated tax payments are due one week from today on Monday, September 15th, 2008. On a related note, the IRS has announced that they are extending the following deadlines for individuals in certain areas affected by Hurricane Gustav:

  • Individual estimated tax payments, originally due Sept. 15, 2008
  • Corporate extended 1120 tax returns, originally due Sept. 15, 2008
  • Individual extended 1040 tax returns originally due Oct. 15, 2008

If you live in one of the affected areas (listed below), your new deadline will be January 5th, 2009. If you reside in, or have a business located in one of the following Louisiana parishes, you can follow the new January deadline:

Acadia, Allen, Ascension, Assumption, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Cameron, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, Lafourche, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Sabine, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne, Vermilion, Vernon, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana.
