Completely off topic, but I ran across this entry in the Compaq support library the other day and found it very amusing. Apparently there’s enough dumb people in the world to warrant a FAQ entry dedicated to the idea that the phrase “press any key” actually means that you should press any one of the keys on your keyboard, as opposed to the one marked “any.” Unbelievable.

They need to add a few more to be completely safe –
1. The cup holder on your left is actually a CD-ROM Drive. Please remove your Big Gulp.
2. Please refrain from using white-out on the screen.
Just when you think you’ve seen (or read) it all…
Either that… or someone was as humorous as us.
Given the fact that the Any Key entry on the knowledge base is cheap to create… it is good insurance against dumb people anyway.

This was on the Simpsons. A prompt to press any key pops up and Homer asks where the any key is. If you’re as dumb as a cartoon character known for being dumb, you shouldn’t own a computer in the first place.

Oh my gosh…I just about wet my pants after reading this post of yours. I can actually picture the team over at HP laughing their butts off as they posted this FAQ to the site.
