IRS to Begin Processing Returns on January 30th

This is just a quick note to let you know that, due to the eleventh hour fiscal cliff drama, the IRS will not begin processing individual tax returns until January 30th. From their press release:

Following the January tax law changes made by Congress under the American Taxpayer Relief Act (ATRA), the Internal Revenue Service announced today it plans to open the 2013 filing season and begin processing individual income tax returns on Jan. 30.

Nearly everyone will be able to file at that time. The exceptions are those who are filing certain forms that will require more extensive changes, including Form 5695 (Residential Energy Credits), Form 4562 (Depreciation and Amortization), and Form 3800 (General Business Credit).
